The nursery was established by my parents, Frank and Tomoko Yabusaki, in September of 1984. My parents met here in the early 1960's after both immigrated to the United States from Japan in the late 1950's. After many years in the landscaping and garden maintenance business, Frank’s dream was to start a retail nursery that featured lots of color and beauty with an Asian flair. So this is why they both decided to carry bonsai and other Japanese garden plants.
Eventually, us kids joined forces with my hard working parents in running the nursery – making this a true “family business.” My brother, Ken, maintains the bonsai and nursery grounds, as well as doing sales and consultation work. Our mother, Tomoko, is the expert at transplanting and sales; she also helps keep us kids well grounded! As for me, Emi, I do sales, and I am the buyer of nursery stock and products. I also do all of the dreaded paperwork behind the scenes.
In June 1998, our father, Frank, passed away due to stomach cancer. He was only 60 years old. (We miss you Dad!!!) It was his hope that his children take over the nursery and continue to run the business as he did. We are all really thankful that Dad got to know all of his five grandchildren. He was a really proud Grandfather! Since then we have added a sixth Grandson and a Great Grandson.
Please come and visit our nursery soon! And THANKS to all of our loyal customers for all of your continued support and patronage!
Peace and Love to All…
